HyperMotion2 Gameplay Technology

Advances in FIFA HyperMotion gameplay technology bring more than 6,000 realistic animations to the game, delivering realism every time you step onto the pitch in FIFA 23:

• Advanced 11v11 Match Capture: Xsens suits capture millions of data points from professional footballers playing real, high-intensity 11v11 matches. FIFA 23 includes Advanced 11v11 Match Capture data from two new full-match motion capture shoots with professional teams - including the first motion capture of a women's match in FIFA - and data from five training sessions, which deliver higher-quality, true-to-life results - more lifelike animations than ever in EA SPORTS FIFA.
• Machine Learning: An algorithm learning from a total of 9.2 million frames of advanced match capture creates new animations in real time to build a natural and realistic feel.
• Full Team Authentic Motion: Player motion data taken from two high-intensity 11v11 matches using Xsens suits delivers more natural football animation in FIFA 23, taken directly from the pitch.
• Powering the Women's Game: Footage of a full-intensity women's match, combined with machine learning technology to power the women's game in FIFA 23 through a dedicated Advanced 11v11 Match, creates authentic animations informed by the movements of real-life female players.
• Technical Dribbling: A brand-new dribbling system allows attackers to calculate their paths to the ball more intelligently. Animation transitions are informed by machine learning between every dribbling touch, delivering next-gen visuals and variety while the ball is at your feet.
• ML-Jockey: Machine learning technology learns from real-world defensive situations and movements taken from Advanced 11v11 Match Capture data to rewrite the jockey system in FIFA 23, creating more natural animations as defenders face attackers coming at them.
• AcceleRATE: The new acceleration mechanic provides a new layer of personality to how players reach their top speeds in FIFA 23. From explosive acceleration to more controlled or longer-lasting changes in speed, players reach their top speeds at different rates and get more out of it.
• Generated Ball Strike: New animations powered by HyperMotion2 allow a more natural transition between controlling the ball and taking a shot. A longer, high-quality animation combining precision and fluidity is delivered.
• Kinetic Goalkeeper Header Battles: An evolution of two-player interaction technology, synchronizing player animations as goalkeepers rise to meet crosses against opposing attacking players, and creating more accurate results as goalkeepers claim aerial balls.

• Powerful Shots: A new skill-based risk-versus-reward shooting mechanic brings the most powerful and spectacular shots in football to the game. After creating space away from defenders, you can pick your spot and take a powerful strike.
• Reimagined Set Pieces: The redesigned set piece system gives you more control over free kicks, penalties and corners, letting you choose where to make contact with the ball to change direction, trajectory, curl and more.
• Pitch Physics: The updated physics in FIFA 23 make a range of on-pitch interactions more natural and realistic:
  • Enhanced Impact Physics: Enhanced Impact Physics lets players' individual limbs influence the outcome more naturally when defenders block the ball in FIFA 23.
  • Net Interaction Physics: The new net physics react to players' movements and to individual limbs, creating more natural interactions with the net as players run, slide or fall into the goal.
  • Player Awareness: A new collision prediction system increases players' awareness on the pitch, letting them move intelligently to avoid tackles and collisions.
• Football Variety: New animations and mechanics bring more natural football variety to FIFA 23 to bring the game closer to the real world.
  • Shooting: Lets you see different shot trajectories, including low, dipping and bouncing shots.
  • Defending: Hard lunge tackles, physical tackles and tackles from behind give you more ways to defend against players approaching you.
  • Passing: New pass types, outside-of-the-boot passes, flicked back passes, volley passes and new pass-space animations offer new ways to find teammates.
  • CPU AI Tactical Awareness: Tactical improvements mean AI opponents react and respond tactically to the situation on the pitch, including formations, and factors such as the score, match time and the players available on the bench, and to change and update their playing style mid-game.
