How Do You Build a Team in Sorare?

Sorare is a game where you sort and build out your players who have a match each week by position. You can build a team by adding;

1. Goalkeeper
2. Defense
3. Midfield
4. Forward
5. Extra (one of your defense, midfield, or forward cards)

There's a system in place where players with a match that week are scored based on the stats they put up in the matches they play. Teams should be built with the tournament types and the combined score your players can put up in mind, and handled accordingly.

It's important to build a consistent team by considering whether that week's opponent is weak or strong, the current form of the player you have, and the score they might put up in that match.

What Should You Watch For When Building a Team in Sorare?

The Player's Form

If your player's form has dropped and they haven't put up good stats in recent weeks, you can either treat the coming week as a potential breakout and keep them in the team, or think of them as a bench option and leave them out of your team. This is entirely up to your own football instincts.

By Tournament Type

There are many different tournament types within Sorare. For example, to take part in the Asian League tournament, you need players who play in the Asian League. You should factor in things like this along with the score your team can put up, and consider whether your team's composition is eligible to enter the tournament, such as whether you have the full required number of players.

By Your Team's Chemistry

Having players who play on the same club team or in the same league together in your lineup is one of the important factors that can help you score higher. The advantage of having plenty of players from the same club team in your lineup is that when that club team wins its match, the players you hold are more likely to have performed well in that match, and because they perform well together, the score of the team you've built will also be higher.

In the team I built last week, I had 3 players from the same league and 2 players from the same club team. I was expecting my forward, who scored 91 points, to perform well this week (he hadn't scored a goal in the previous 2 weeks), and I predicted that both of the marked players would perform well this week since their matches were against teams relatively weaker than themselves, and they didn't let me down. Since my other two players didn't perform badly either, I managed to put up a good score. If I'd had 2 more players from my forward's team or my marked players' teams in this lineup, I could have had a much higher chance of an even better performance. (of course, not guaranteed)

When building your teams, you need to picture which players could score well together and build accordingly.

Build Your Team Before the Matches Start

One of the biggest mistakes people make is not checking the game on the final day the tournaments start and failing to build the team correctly. In Sorare, you need to set your team for the tournament before the week starts, meaning before the matches start (at the latest, on the morning of match day). If you're late and the team you had in mind would have scored well, you'll end up with big regrets, so check your team the night before and make your final changes!

Building a Team Around Injuries

On the final day before the tournament starts, you should build your team by checking the real-life injury and suspension status of your players. You might add a player who's in form to your team without checking on them, but they could have gotten injured or picked up a yellow card suspension in that last training session. Paying attention to things like this will always keep you in the tournament and protect you from simple mistakes.

Making the Right Captain Choices

Since the captain you choose earns a +20% bonus over the other players, giving that role to the player you expect to score highest will result in a higher overall team score if that player also performs well.

Building a Team So Your Players Earn XP

You might have more than 5 players and only be able to enter a single tournament. To make use of your idle players, you can build a Training team from the "Mixed" category. This way, you'll get a chance to earn XP bonuses even if you can't earn points from those players.
