Kassadin's new PBE splash art suggests League of Legends is testing a visual update for the champion, likely arriving with Patch 12.6 on March 30, 2022.

LoL fans might be getting a visual update for Kassadin when they least expect it. The beloved mid lane champion hadn't received any update in a long time. After all this time, an update seems close. Riot Games announced earlier this year that there would be developments in the lore of the Void, a region of League of Legends about which little is known beyond some horrifying inhabitants that can be played in the Rift. Thanks to some new artwork of a familiar Void-traveling face, more information about a "Void event" may be coming soon.
Is LoL Kassadin Getting a Visual Update?
As part of the current PBE cycle, Kassadin received new splash art that differs significantly from how the champion has appeared in-game over the last decade. Whether this is heading toward a Caitlyn-style ASU or a full-scale VGU isn't clear yet. However, the update depicts Kassadin in a more powerful, Void-like way than we've seen before.

Compared to Kassadin's current splash art, this version gives him features resembling those found on his daughter Kai'Sa, including eerie purple Void-spiked shoulder pads. This updated splash also sharpens his horns while shedding some of the tubing, making his squid-like mask look far more menacing.
Most notably, this new splash art emphasizes Kassadin's human form, complete with the robe he disguises himself in while trying to seek out his master Malzahar in the Void. The torn robe shows clear signs of the struggle and strife Kassadin has endured on his journey, while also serving as a reminder of the revenge he seeks against the Void for everything it took from him.
There's no indication of what this new splash art means for either Kassadin or League of Legends' current state, but with a Void-themed champion on the horizon, we may see some kind of Void event in the near future. Kassadin hasn't been reworked in any way since Season 4, and his visuals have gone largely unupdated since his release in 2009.
When Will LoL Kassadin Get a Visual Update?
The Kassadin visual update currently being tested on the PBE server is likely to arrive with Patch 12.6, if it makes it to the live servers. Patch 12.6 is expected to arrive on Wednesday, March 30.
